NorthStar Education Partners collaborated with The Kindezi Schools to advance several critical organizational priorities. This collaboration aimed to refresh Kindezi’s organizational identity, assist in short-term decision-making, and develop a multi-year strategic plan to accelerate progress and ensure long-term success.
Objectives
The Kindezi Schools partnered with NorthStar to:
- Refresh organizational identity by facilitating a collaborative process with staff, students, families, and the board to re-affirm and re-fresh Kindezi’s vision, mission, core values, and organizational model.
- Assist in short-term decision-making by identifying and addressing strategic organizational decisions related to staffing, academic strategy, and systems/processes.
- Develop a multi-year strategic plan that identifies organizational priorities, strategic initiatives, and implementation roadmaps required over the next three years.

Key Activities & Deliverables
Organizational Assessment
- Guiding Team Formation: A core guiding team of 8-12 stakeholders was formed and trained in liberatory design principles.
- Data Collection: Conducted data collection and individual/team interviews to identify organizational strengths, weaknesses, obstacles, and opportunities.
- Organizational Assessment Report: Developed a comprehensive assessment, including a SWOT analysis and emerging themes for refining the vision, mission, core values, and graduate profile.
Organizational Identity Development
- Design Workshops: Facilitated iterative design workshops and engagements with stakeholders to develop a refreshed mission, vision, and core values statements.
- Model and Profile Review: Revisited Kindezi’s core model and graduate profile to ensure alignment with the updated vision, mission, and core values.
Strategic Planning
- Short-term Decisions: Identified and addressed strategic organizational decisions in preparation for the upcoming school year.
- Strategic Plan Development: Developed a multi-year strategic plan with success metrics, organizational priorities, goals, strategic initiatives, and implementation roadmaps.
- Implementation Guidance: Provided guidance on protocols and structures for implementing the strategic plan.
- Centralized Resources: Created an implementation website centralizing all tools and resources.
Outcomes
Through this collaboration, The Kindezi Schools developed a refreshed organizational identity and a comprehensive strategic plan. This plan includes clearly defined priorities, goals, and implementation strategies that will guide Kindezi’s growth and development over the next three years. The Kindezi Schools are now better positioned to achieve their mission and continue providing high-quality education to their students.
