Luqman Abdur-Rahman
Luqman Abdur-Rahman is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He began his professional career as a mechanical engineer and by working for and eventually leading a non-profit organization focused on providing educational opportunities for youth in the English Avenue and Vine City
neighborhoods of Atlanta.
Luqman’s journey in education has always been based in finding innovative solutions for meaningful and sustainable change that would serve the most disenfranchised students. He has worked in urban public, charter, and partner schools in many capacities: Math and science teacher on the middle and high school level, coach, academy leader, and principal. He brings an experience and focus in strategy, assessment, school culture, leadership development, and equity. He continues to facilitate various equity trainings for the CREATE fellowship program at Georgia State and in partnership with HTI Consultants.
Luqman holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics from Morehouse College and Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech. He also has a Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from Ga. Tech. After transitioning to the educational space, Luqman attended Columbia University and received a Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership. He loves traveling, playing and watching sports of all types, and spending time with his beautiful wife Lauren and daughter Lailah.
